I recently photographed an extended family on their private property in Longmont. A grassy path lined with big trees, beautiful natural light, and one of the sweetest families I have worked with. I loved the location so much that at the end of the session I asked if I could use it for mini sessions. They said yes immediately. It felt easy and natural. And I have been thinking about why ever since.

The Honest Answer to Why Sales Feel Hard for Most Photographers

Most photographers who struggle with sales believe it is a personality problem. Too introverted. Too awkward. Not a natural salesperson. But that is almost never what is actually going on. The real friction usually comes from unclear positioning, pricing you do not fully believe in, or no real structure around how you present your offer. When those things are shaky, sales feel uncomfortable because you are trying to sell something you are not confident in yourself.

Clarity Is the Confidence You Have Been Looking For

That ask worked because I was not guessing. I knew my mini session offer inside and out — the price, the experience, what clients would walk away with, and why it was worth their time and money to book. When you are that clear on what you are selling, the conversation changes. You stop hoping people will not ask too many questions and start welcoming them. Confidence in sales does not come from becoming a different type of person. It comes from getting so clear on who you serve, what you charge, and how your process works that the conversation stops feeling like a pitch and starts feeling like an honest one. Build the clarity first. The confidence follows.
