There’s something about the Christmas season that always makes me slow down and reflect. This year has held so much growth, both for me personally and for Catherine Chamberlain Photography. My associate, Stephanie Eddy, captured these magical Christmas minis at Sugarhill Studio in Longmont, Colorado, and when I saw the images, I felt that familiar tug of joy. The studio created a cozy holiday setup with garland, Christmas trees, soft blankets, and pillows—simple pieces that made the space feel warm and inviting. As I reflected on the lessons this year taught, the heart behind this session felt even more meaningful. It reminded me how powerful it is to build a team that reflects your values and serves families with the same level of love and intention.

A Quiet Reminder of the Joy Behind the Lessons This Year Taught

For photographers, here’s the lesson these sessions brought forward for me: growth doesn’t always look like doing more. Sometimes it looks like creating systems that allow you to step back and still serve your clients beautifully. Letting my associate lead this set of minis was another reminder that a healthy business isn’t built on hustle alone—it’s built on clarity, trust, and workflows that support real life. When you have processes that are simple and strong, your business can expand without adding chaos to your home or taking more hours away from your family. That’s the kind of growth that lasts.

Joy That Shows Up in the Small Moments

As I look back on this year, one theme stands out: joy shows up in the small things. You can see it in the quiet confidence of a photographer who’s grown, feel it in a child snuggled into a blanket, and notice it in a family taking a few minutes to pause and be together. My hope is that as you reflect on your own year—whether you’re a photographer or a client—you see the little moments that carried you. Christmas has a way of highlighting what matters most, and this session was a sweet reminder of that. Let joy be the thing that leads you into the new year.
