When you think of fall as a child, what do you think of? For me, growing up in Maine has made me appreciate the beauty that can be found in autumn just before winter sets in. Colorado’s bright yellows and changing colors during this season takes me back to my childhood growing up in New England. That’s why I get so excited to have fall minis with so many special families who love taking pictures this enchanting time of year. We took these morning fall mini sessions at Sandstone Ranch, a gem right here in Longmont, Colorado.
Morning Fall Mini Sessions at Sandstone Ranch in Longmont, CO
People who know me well know that I’m not a morning person—like at all. I never have been. However, since having kids, I have had to adjust my schedule around them. This includes getting up earlier than I’d ideally like. I find though that when I’m able to get up even just a little bit ahead of them, it’s worth it because I have some time just for me before starting the day with them.
This session was unique simply because these photos were all captured in the morning. Instead of taking these photos at the typical time in the afternoon or evening to catch the lighting before sunset, we did these in the golden hours soon after sunrise.
Early Morning Mini Sessions
I offer this morning option because some kids don’t do well just waking up from a nap or having their picture taken close to dinner or bedtime. I always try to be considerate of those families who have kids that do much better earlier in the day. The ultimate goal is to have the best possible outcome for littles as possible. The golden morning light at Sandstone Ranch is particularly stunning. I even prefer to shoot there in the morning over the afternoon.
Thank you to those who came out for this early morning session! All the children did a great job getting their photos taken, and it was fun to include some family pets in the pictures as well. I’d do anything for my clients, yes—even get up early!
