My talented associate photographer, Rima, captured this recent mini session at the beautiful Mt. Falcon Park in Indian Hills, Colorado. The rain clouds threatened to ruin our plans, but we lucked out and only got a light drizzle towards the end of the session. Despite the weather uncertainty, we still managed to capture some amazing portraits of our families. Mt. Falcon offers a unique backdrop of rolling hills and scenic vistas. This makes it an ideal location for capturing memories with loved ones. Let’s look at some easy tips for dealing with inclement weather.

Tips for Inclement Weather

As photographers, we often have to adapt to unexpected weather conditions. On this particular day, we were lucky that the rain held off until the very end of the session. However, it’s always a good idea to be prepared for sudden changes in weather. You should make sure to have umbrellas on hand. Encourage families to dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes that could handle the potentially muddy terrain. Being prepared not only ensures that you’re ready for any unexpected weather changes but also helps to reduce stress. This allows you to focus on capturing beautiful moments with your subjects.

Use the Environment to Your Advantage

Mt. Falcon Park offers a stunning landscape that can add depth and interest to your portraits. As photographers, we should take advantage of these natural elements to create unique and memorable images. Rima did an excellent job of incorporating the surroundings into our shots, using the rolling hills and tall grasses as a backdrop to create a sense of movement and texture in the images. By paying attention to your environment and using it to your advantage, you can create portraits that are truly one-of-a-kind and reflect the unique character of your subjects.
