I had the pleasure of photographing the Wenger family during a delightful Boulder outdoor family session at the South Mesa Trailhead. Visiting from out of town, they were eager to capture their time together against the stunning backdrop of the Colorado mountains. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the children’s energy was infectious, making for a perfect setting to create lasting memories. From the breathtaking views to the gentle rustle of the long grass, we were surrounded by nature’s beauty as we set out to capture their family moments.
Engaging Active Kids during a Boulder Outdoor Family Session
One of the keys to a successful family session is to embrace the natural energy of active children. During our time together, the little ones ran around with enthusiasm, playing games that allowed them to bond and express themselves. We made a game out of running to their parents for hugs, exploring the flowers, and racing circles around their mom and dad. It’s important to remember that a carefree atmosphere translates into genuine smiles and laughter in photographs. As a photographer, I encourage parents to relax and enjoy the moment. I’m skilled at capturing those fleeting instances of joy, even when kids are on the move.
The Beauty of Spontaneity to Create Timeless Memories
During a family session, spontaneity is your best friend. The Wengers found joy in the unexpected moments, from flower-picking adventures to spontaneous hugs mid-run. Kids are often at their best when they’re just being themselves. Capturing these authentic interactions enables me to document the family’s unique personality, creating images that resonate with life’s beautiful chaos. After all, it’s the unplanned moments that often turn into the most cherished memories, and I’m thrilled to have shared in this adventure with the Wenger family.
