One of my favorite aspects of a newborn session is the people I get to incorporate. Typically, in a newborn session we all know who the star of the show is, and rightfully so. Yet, the cherished memories extend beyond just the newborn; they encompass all the loved ones who share in this significant moment. Not only did we get to incorporate extended family in this winter indoor newborn session, we got to do it in the comfort of their own home with Christmas decorations and all.

For those accustomed to seeing newborn photos featuring only the baby, you will notice I incorporate the parents, and in this case—big sister too. I had the best time with her. There were concerns about her being too energetic and excited, fearing she might not stay still when asked. I made a conscious effort to establish a connection with her right from the beginning. I normally do this with children, but I made a very concerted effort this go around to help things go smoothly, which they did. We hit it off and she did everything I asked. A few times I used the toys in my bag to incentivize her by allowing her to play with some of the ones I brought along.

The other sentimental aspect of this photoshoot was that both sets of grandparents were involved. I will always capture any family members present during a newborn session at no extra charge. They deserve good photos with their newest grandchild as well.
