Last November, I had the pleasure of photographing a mini family session at the South Mesa Trailhead in Boulder, CO. As a photographer, I am always captivated by the stunning scenery this location has to offer. It was truly a pleasure to capture the Martin Family outdoor session at this scenic spot. Their son was a natural in front of the camera, with an infectious smile that lit up every photo.

The trailhead is situated at the base of the Flatirons, a series of iconic rock formations that are a must-see for anyone visiting Boulder. Along the trails there are several picturesque locations, but we went to a large clearing that was bathed in golden light—a perfect spot for family portraits. As I framed the shots, I couldn’t help but marvel at the rugged beauty of the mountains looming in the background and the way the light danced across the landscape. The golden hour illuminated the Martin Family in such a stunning way; I was thrilled with the results.

Throughout the session, I couldn’t help but feel fortunate to be a photographer at such a beautiful location. South Mesa Trailhead is truly a gem. From the rugged beauty of the Flatirons to the rolling meadows, there’s no shortage of inspiration to be found. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to capture the magic of this location and create images that will stay with the Martin Family for a lifetime.
